DREAM damage calculations?

Hi,

somehow the DREAM damage numbers from the character screen don't seem to
fit. I made some experiments and found the following:

Level 15 Holy Shock aura has 1-648 lightning damage added to attack and
some 1-108 lightning damage over time.

So, first I put the helmet on my barb after stripping him of his weapons:

Bare hand damage: 50-128
DREAM: 51-776 (776-648=128)

This is correct. Now we come to my Enchantress, which has 13 points in
lightning mastery (+194%). I stripped her of all +skills equipment first:

Bare hand damage: 45-63
DREAM: 47-5663 (LM 13, +194%)

Now that is already much more than was to expect. The LM multiplied with
HS damage only gives 1905 lightning (648 x 2,94 = 1905).

How high does it get? I donned all my +skills equipment which gives a
lightning mastery of 20 = 278%. This is on my weapon switch, so the bare
hand damage is slightly higher:

Bare hand damage: 94-213
DREAM: 98-9470 !!!

WTF? This is only 84% more LM, but damage goes up by 3807?

Anybody got an idea what is going on here? I really need to get my ranger
pally to level 65 so I can see what numbers he gets..

648*2,94*2,94+63 = 5664

Seems to be the same as with FM and Enchant. LM is multipied twice,
first for the skill and a second time for final damage. Now you should
find out if it's just a display bug or if the dealt dmg is really that
high. Remeber to make your tests with melee *and* ranged attacks (other
than the displayed dmg in the LCS indicates, Mastery does only count
once for ranged attacks).

You won't see these effects with a pally i think. It's all related to
how Lighning/Fire Mastery is working.

I somehow remembered that the masteries where taken into account twice,
but only added it up (2,94 + 2,94)..
Hmm, and while running around with my Demon Machine in Hell diff in
Andariel's dungeons, most monsters took two or three shots to kill. So I
wasn't too impressed by the kill rate..

With all synergies for Holy Frost/Shock maxed, a DREAM helmet and 20/5
skill points in HF/HS, I'd be able to have both auras active at the same
time with maximum damage.. And I'd only need 85 skill points for this.

Try switching to melee mode (Passion Phase Blade, Whitstan's Guard) and
one hit kills are back - you will be impressed. I did that lately with
my Enchantress. Even with a not so expensive setup like yours
(Gimmershred, Whitstans, Lionheart, String of Ears, Gaze, Ravenfrost,
crafted life leech ring, Laying of Hands, Nats Boots, Resists/Life
Ammy), she is performing quite well (in Act 1 Hell that is).

Yes, but you won't see the insane numbers caused by FM/LM.
