I'm trying to install windows 8 on my brothers brand new build with a 500gb drive, but my windows setup says that drive 0 unallocated space has total size of 3.9gb, and I'm not able to install windows on this drive, I have tried moving to different SATA ports but can't fix problem, please help.

No, you can't install Windows into a 3.9GB partition.

When it asks 'where', select Custom.
That should show you all of the existing partitions
Delete all of them, and let Windows install to that 500GB space, creating what it needs.

It does not give me a delete option for drive 0 unallocted space, the options i have are refresh, load driver, and new. It does tell me that disk controller does need to be enabled, could that be the problem

When it asks where, does it show all the existing partitions on that drive?
What happens when you select 'New'?
