Though the software will re-partition and re-format the hard disk, it's best to start with a blank target disk that has just been wiped down to a single NTFS partition and formatted.
Generally the cloning software will partition and format the drive its self
I do not know the software you are using , but I highly recommend Acronis Migrate Easy .
Free trial gives you plenty of time
Seagate use a slightly modified version of this software for cloning [ it only works if one of the drives is a seagate ]
I can't talk about Apricorn .
But, if you are cloning to a Samsung ssd, you can use their free proprietary version which works well.
Intel has a similar utility which works only to Intel drives.
In either case, you will be warned that the drive will get reformatted.
