Drive is not recognized help

I just bought a Western Digital 2 TB drive for my newly built computer. I plugged in my SATA connector from the back of the harddrive to the 6gp/s SATA ports on my motherboard. None of them would work. The harddrive was not recognized in the BIOS or when booting linux from a cd and choosing "Install" to a harddrive. I have yet to try the 3 gp/s cord with the corresponding SATA port, but I'm pretty sure that it would not work. I have enabled Hot Plug in BIOS and still no luck. Any help please?

Is the 6gp/s SATA port enabled in the BIOS? I know some motherboards are a pain and require that feature to be enabled to run.

I've looked all through-out BIOS and I can not find it

I should have also asked which motherboard is it?

Have you tried it on the 3gb/s SATA ports?
