Driver 1 crash on launch

I recently purchased the game "Driver" on disc and I'm having trouble launching the game. I ran the installer and the game installed fine but upon trying to launch the game it simply showed a black screen with a box saying "Game.exe has stopped working". I have tried running in compatibility mode for Windows XP Service Pack 3 but the problem persists. As you can imagine, the word "Driver" when looking for tech support brings up some unwanted results so this is the only thing I can think of. Thanks in advance for any responses.

I'd rather play it on PS1 hehe but try as suggested in this wiki -

There are some known issues that have some fixes for it.
