Driver and system problems

This is my question. My father inlaw gave me this computer(COMPAQ presario Sr1603wm) Nothing fancy. NOT Trying to spend money on it yet. but i need to know how to fix it..if any one has any good free advice. i almost have it running good.except things like i had all drivers up to date and pretty much everything else also,BUT when i turn the computer off, and and back on the computer is diffrent ,USB ports,my BUS drivers, NETWORK DRIVERS.. pretty much 7 of them keep getting lost why

is the pc date and time changing too??? if it is it may be a bad cmos battery. the cr203 are a few bucks and take a few min to swap out. if it not the battery do a few free online virus scans from avast and avg...make sure you have one updated anti virus to make sure your not infected. on the pc itself make sure the mb chipset drivers are newest ones. you may have to go to intel or amd to download the newest drivers. if it not a driver issue it may be damaged windows. did your inlaw give your the restore cd or is there on on the hard drive. sometime if windows is damaged real bad you have to start with a fresh install. if you dont have the disk contatct the pc vendor or look on ebay for one.
