Driver cant find hardware

I just installed a new larger HDD with win 7 Ultimate 64bit on my laptop. The graphics werent working so went to Nvidia web -downloaded and tried to install the drivers- had an error message that it could not find my (or any) Geforce 8400 hardware. I know it's on board, What's Up. I'm a novice. Thanks in advance

From experience I have learned that if helps to go on Windows Update
and let Windows install the Microsoft WDM driver for the card
then go ahead and do your install
right click on My Computer-select manage-select device manager-select the display adapter
if it says generic VGA adapter then install the Microsoft driver from Windows Update
since the install package wont recognize it if it says generic VGA adapter

Windows Update can be found under all programs in start menu
