However, I'm unable to uninstall the old driver through control panel in win7 64, even in safe mode. So this is my question; what are my options, and which is most likely to work?

Solution boju Feb 19, 2014 Dont need to uninstall the driver. When you go to install the new driver, click advanced/custom install and check the option for clean install. The driver will remove and install properly.
