Question Driver error?

I got a asus tuf 4080 my pc restarted and I got a red screen well playing gta 5. I updated drivers and everything seems normal… can a slightly out dated driver cause this?

Yes but even any driver is just software and as such is subject to errors.

Ok so I was still having issues and noticed my gpu has a little switch on it that say quiet mode or performance mode I switched it to performance mode and I am no longer having issues, why would this be causing the issue.

In quiet mode voltage is also decreased to save on power and heat which lowers fan's rpm and they are quieter It's possible it lowered to much.
