I use teh 44.03's with my 4200. Anything close to that is probably good.

The 45.23 is WHQL certified and gives you a nice amount of performance,
bug fixes, and quality... while still being fairly old.

You can get a hefty list of older drivers at www.guru3d.com

Also, check the forums there, because they go through questions like
this all the time.

For stability with that non-FX card use the 45.23 driver.

Yeah those are probably good, not sure if I tried them though. I've tried a lot
of drivers and have always gone back to the 44.03's for speed and stabilty on
my 4200.
Running WHQL certified drivers is always a good thing. I just never had any
problems with the 44.03's. I probably tested the.45.23's found the 44.03's gave
slightly better performance so I reverted back. Not earth shattering better
though.

here's the story.

Was using the 45 and when I went to the 56, the windows messages had ovals
(where you click) instead of circles and spreadsheet programs like Excel
looked terrible. And a few crashes. So I used the 45.

Then, I bought the Ti4200 and I got the same strange ovals and Excel
distortions with 45 so I have kept with the driver that came with the
original CD. The 56 just made a lot of crashes.

Maybe I will just have to make sure to clean out the registry better next
time when I upgrade.

Question for you all ....

I purchased a refurbished Aopen GF4 ti4200 and it ran very well at
first. Now when I run it I have what appears to be spots in the screen
and some times when booting the Dos portion of the boot has colored
boxs in it.

Question Do I just learn my lesson and trash can the card or am I
missing something?

Could just be a bad BIOS flash.

Go to Aopen's or Leadtek's site and download the appropriate bios for
your card, then flash it.

And don't buy any more refurbished cards.

I'd rather pay the extra money and know I'm the only one that's used it.

Could also be a bad memory. I've seen those colored blocks before with a memory
voltage mod that went bad.

He should also check the cooling on the card and make sure its working right.

The card also might have moved in the slot. Take the card out, clean the edge
connector with a pencil erasor and re-seat the card.

41.09 still the fastest for GF4 cards.
Every driver before or after costs me 1500/2000 points in 3dmark2001se.
Hm,the old 30.82 are also very stable and nice looking graphics.

Does this help you any? Scroll down until you see live update wizard. Just make
sure it's OK to use with your video card before using it.

Have you tried putting in the exact name of the model you have here?
