My brother gave to me the film scanner Nikon CoolScan V ED but my i mac doesn't recognize the scanner. Why?

I did not find the software only the device(my brother is dead now)
What can i do to install the software via internet. I can't find the CD
I have Mac OS X version 10.6.7
I tried http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/drivers/nikonscan.html but nothing.
Please help me

Unfortunately, Nikon say that their software is not supported on later versions of OS X ( see http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16811/sort/4,2/r_id/116678 ). They offer some alternatives that you might try, or you could always try the version for OS X 10.1 to see if it works ( http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16452/session/L2F2LzEvdGltZS8xMzAzOTc3MzQ5L3NpZC9Jdjh5dUJzaw%3D%3D ) although I wouldn't hold out any great hopes.
