Hello, I've recently installed linux mint 15 for a week or so until I can get windows 7 or whatever. So as I've heard, linux isn't great for gaming. I have a HD 7770 and games are running pretty horrendous, and I think it might have something to do with drivers. I haven't installed any yet cause I have no idea which ones to install, or even if that's the problem.

In the driver manager there is
-xserver-xorg-video-ati
-fglrx-updates
-fglrx

Do I need any of these?

xserver-xorg-video-ati is the free opensource driver that is included in practically every distrobution. You are already using this driver. Unfortunately its performance and supported features are far less than what is supported by the closed proprietary driver from AMD.

Choose the option fglrx if you want better 3d support for games. Sometimes you will also see this driver called by its other name catalyst

hey, i picked and applied the fglrx and rebooted. it made it so games were actually playable, but it said unsupported hardware at the bottom right of my screen. so I kept it there and later rebooted for something else, and now it gets past the linux mint logo but just displays a black screen, all i can see it my mouse and the unsupported hardware thing at the bottom right of the screen.

is there a way to revert it?

Okay, thanks a lot, it worked. :)
