I have been getting that BSOD everytime I launch and go into a game. Trying to figure out on my own but none of the methods I found haven't worked.
My specs:
i7 8750h
GTX 1060 6GB
16GB ddr4 ram
128Gb SSD
1tb HDD

Pc specialist built laptop

All help is appreciated!

Do you have any BIOS updates pending for that laptop's motherboard? You might want to see if uninstalling your GPU drivers using DDU and then reinstalling the latest off of Nvidia's support site, changes your experience.

Lastly, what games are you trying to fire up and where did you source the games from?

Hi,
Where can I see if my mobos BIOS needs a update, because I cant find where to download bios updates for my motherboard which is clevo n870ep6 ?

I unistalled GPU drivers with DDU and installed the newest again, but that didn't do anything for me.

The games I'm trying to play at the moment are Apex Legends and Battlefield series from Origin.

Also I can't change my screen brightness at all, could these two be from the same problem?

Thanks for your reply mate!

Same error here, after a cumulative Windows update;

For me, the error occurs when I try to use a specific software (GODOT 3.1): the software runs 2 or 3 minutes and crashes PC with this error.

Lenovo ideapad 330-15IKB
8gb ram
Intel UHD Graphics 620
Nvidia MX150
Intel Core i5-8250

Op asked me to have a look :)

Hi,

did you try this website?
https://www.clevo.com.tw/en/e-services/download/default.asp

working out the code for it is fun part - is this the laptop? https://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np7871-clevo-n870ep6.html

perhaps dump will tell us more
1. Can you follow option one on the following link - here - and then do this step below: Small memory dumps - Have Windows Create a Small Memory Dump (Minidump) on BSOD

that creates a file in c windows/minidump after the next BSOD
copy that file to documents
upload the copy from documents to a file sharing web site, and share the link here and I will get someone to convert file into a format I can read

2. can you download and run driverview - all it does is shows which drivers are running, dumps will tell us that as well but you might get a faster answer with driverview. - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/driverview.html
when you run it, go into view and set it to hide all MIcrosoft drivers as that will make list smaller.
Can you take screenshot of the details remaining including the creation date, as that will show the oldest drivers - upload screenshot to an image sharing website and show link here.

Hi,
I tried the website (https://www.clevo.com.tw/en/e-services/download/default.asp) you mentioned but I wasn't able to found a BIOS update for my motherboard.

And that computer is otherwise the exact same but mine has a 128gb ssd.

1. Here is the link for the dump file: https://jumpshare.com/v/MVnKuRu5plYbXMZ0dt7j

2. Here is the link for driverview screenshot: https://jumpshare.com/v/ef3oWstBEXu74fUhvTU4

Thank you for your answers man!

Hi, I ran the dump file through the debugger and got the following information: https://pste.eu/p/zlcQ.html

File information:072219-12765-01.dmp (Jul 22 2019 - 11:58:30)
Bugcheck:DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (9F)
Probably caused by:pci.sys (Process: System)
Uptime:0 Day(s), 0 Hour(s), 19 Min(s), and 27 Sec(s)

Comments:
  • The overclocking driver "XtuAcpiDriver.sys" was found on your system. (Intel Extreme Tuning Utility)
  • The overclocking driver "IOCBios2.sys" was found on your system. (Intel Extreme Tuning Utility)
  • The overclocking driver "RTCore64.sys" was found on your system. (MSI Afterburner)

System page: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/desktop-pcs/optimusix-17/

This information can be used by others to help you. I can't help you with this. Someone else will post with more information. Please wait for additional answers. Good luck.

I have had a sore hand this week so not been on to answer.

pci.sys = peripheral control interface, part of Windows 10. Now what would be causing it to crash?

Try removing the IOBIt Program, part of its from 2013 and too old for WIn 10
Did you install INtel processor diagnostic tool? oldest driver might be part of it from 2008 (its also part of throttlestop)

Okay, thanks for the answer man!

I will delete those and try again then.

Now I haven't gotten any BSOD but still can't change the brightness and all my games keep crashing because it says I removed the GPU physically.

Only intel thing I have installed is Intel XTU but I have installed throttle stop so I will delete it too.

no more mr nice guy

Unless @axe0axe0 decides to jump in and help here, try looking at the 2nd post in this thread and run Driver Verifer after taking the precautions mentioned, lets see what windows thinks is problem here - https://forums.tomshardware.com/thr...nclude-in-blue-screen-of-death-posts.3468965/
Hey I also sent the dump files to the manufacturer (pcspecialist) and they gave me all kinds of advice and none worked. They told me now that I should send the laptop back to them as the warranty covers it. So should I send it back?

And Thanks for your multiple replys and advice appreciate your efforts a lot!

But now they said that it will cost around 90 euros to get it there and one of their tech support guys said that he has no clue whats going on:D And also now I have played apex around 6 hours in past two days and no crashes or anything. With undervolting cpu stays at 78 celsius and gpu 81 celsius, what you think should I send it back?

There are two problems accuring at the moment after all these tries and fixes. Still no control over screen brightness and really high gpu usage in games no matter the settings.

And thanks again for taking your time to reply!

how old is it? how much more warranty have you got?

it is entirely up to you, it is your choice. Perhaps wait and see if you still get any errors.

So screens brightness slider isn't in the action centre? https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/4026946/windows-10-change-screen-brightness

pci.sys is related to cards, so that high GPU usage could be part of problem. The tech might be able to figure out problem if he actually has hardware

The laptop was bought in 28th of January this year, the parts have one year warranty and labor 3 years.

No the screen brightness slider isn't working at all and I have updated all the drivers.

There is a recent Windows Update which addresses screen brightness settings: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4505903/windows-10-update-kb4505903
Quote:

Addresses an issue that may prevent you from changing the display brightness when using certain graphics drivers after resuming from Sleep or Hibernation.

Thank for the reply and running the dump file. Also I don't usually use sleep so that doesn't seem to concern me.

Throttlestop is still running

perhaps try removing this
Dec 23 2013SmartDefragDriver.sysSmart Defrag driver (IObit) http://www.iobit.com/

if you don't have any iobit left on system, try using autoruns - link - to stop it running at startup, its too old for win 10 and never know, could be cause

you could use autoruns to stop both from loading at startup. It doesn't stop something else starting them if needed but it might fix problem.

Now I look, I mentioned both of those last time as well.

I also mentioned this last time as well - another way to figure out what driver it might be if they still happen with those 2 stopped is look at the 2nd post in this thread - just make sure to follow the precautions: https://forums.tomshardware.com/thr...nclude-in-blue-screen-of-death-posts.3468965/

I'd love to, but unfortunately I am on mobile data for now.
I'll have normal network (without data limit) end of next week again, until then I may jump in here and there but please do not expect me to be able to finish troubleshooting.
