Hi,

I am in the process of helping my friend's mum update her ancient PC from XP to Windows 7 (32bit).

After fixing problem after problem I have finally managed to get Windows 7 installed and have got most of the hardware working. The only problems I have left (I hope) is that it has no sound and no integrated graphics (currently using an old GPU I had).

I think I am safe in assuming that both these problems can be resolved by installing the correct drivers.

From the research I have done I think these are the drivers I need:

Integrated ATI Radeon Xpress 200?? (RC410)
Realtek ALC861???

I was hoping that someone could advise me if these are the correct drivers and also where I could download them from.

Thanks

Have you tried the motherboard manufacturer's website? If they have Vista drivers but not Win7 drivers, the Vista ones may do the trick.

Ideally (and sensibly in my view), one should check what drivers have been released by the PC or motherboard manufacture before changing the OS.

I have tried loads of places but can't find what i need. one of the places i tried had malware in the download and i had to clean the machine.

Could someone please help as this is driving me up the wall and i am paranoid that i may get another infection.

cheers

Edit: I think the driver names i posted were incorrect, so updated with the correct ones.

Update
---------
I downloaded and installed audio driver from here: http://www.realtek.cz/realtek-download.php?realtek=ALC861&system=5

Audio still not working. Do I have the right driver? Is there another driver i need to get the audio working?

With regards to integrated graphics driver, I have only been able to find XP drivers. Do you know if there is a Windows 7 driver?

Thanks

well that was a waste of 7 hours lol.

no solution found and rather than waste anymore time i have decided to leave the gpu in and buy a super cheap sound card. not really what i wanted but hopefully it will resolve the issues.
