Drivers (I think)

So I just finished assembling my first computer. I fancied myself pretty computer savvy but this has been a bit more of a learning experience than I had anticipated. So It's all assembled, it posted and booted first try, formatted my old hard drive (Which I'm using to save money as I don't need to pay for a new one just yet) and reinstalled a fresh install of windows 7 64bit. Next I installed the drivers, and I realized I don't know how to tell exactly what drivers I will need, at least not exclusively. So I installed all the drivers that were obvious/that I can think of including:

Network adapter
GPU
Sound
And a windows thing, WHQL which I'm not sure if it's even a driver.

And then I went to the MOBO manufacturers website to download the chipset driver, but the chipset driver exe brought up catalyst, which went and seemed to verify that my GPU drivers were in order... So I don't know if something is wrong there, or if the Catalyst also installed the chipset driver or not.

My build is
Gigabyte 970A DS3P
AMD FX-8320
AMD R9-270 OC
16gb DDR3 1866mhz RAM

Now my problem is that my system isn't very responsive. Just in navigating explorer. It hangs occasionally and isn't as responsive as my old system running the same OS with VASTLY inferior hardware. Am I missing any drivers? How do I tell? I don't really know what the cause of the problem is or how to fix it, any advice would certainly be very welcome. Thank you in advance!

Goto device mangement first and look out for yellow exclamation marks. None = no additonal drivers needed. And yes, AMD uses the Catalyst installer for the chipset drivers as well as for the graphics drivers.
Goto the Windows event viewer next and check it for error message. You might see i/o errors, that point to a faulty harddrive or sata cable. You might want to install the Gigabyte util for the mobo as well and check the temps. Just in case the cpu cooler is nocht installed properly.
