Hey everyone, I'm having an issue with my drivers. I just upgraded my Motherboard (MSI z270 gaming pro carbon) my CPU (Intel i7-7700k 4.2ghz) my GPU (GTX 1070) and my ram (corsair vengeance ddr4). Once I installed everything and booted to my desktop i decided i'd try to install all the new drivers (i don't have a disc drive). When i tried to install all my new drivers they wouldn't make any progress. I tried installing new drivers and uninstalling old ones through device manager and it just sat on uninstalling for 30 minutes at a time. I tried going to the websites individually and downloading the newest drivers but they all just got stuck on "initializing." I even tried various driver update software's and they were all stuck at installing at 1%. I'm currently trying DDU (Display driver uninstaller) and it's been "trying to create a system restore point" for roughly 20 minutes. Does anyone have any ideas what to do? Thanks.

Its a better option to reinstall windows when there is a change in motherboard. Its will automatically detect the drivers required for the new motherboard, instead of removing the old driver and installing the new driver.

Anyways you can install the drivers provided with the motherboard once you reinstall Windows.

Good Luck.:) Peace.

Thanks for the replies! I'm not sure where my box/cd key for windows is so reinstalling the OS might be a little expensive if I cant find it. I've tried going into safemode and when i reboot and try loading into safemode it just sits at an all black screen for a while and i end up restarting and booting normally. I did however manage to uninstall my gpu drivers but the new ones still wont install.

Hi

If you have had windows 10 for sometime you probably wont need a key to reinstall windows 10 if you have a recent version or have updated to a recent version which allows attaching it to a microsoft account
Then moving the windows software to a new pc

Ideally you should have done this before moving to a new pc
Is windows licensing & activation complaining about the changed pc?

Also Products like produkey from nirsoft can pull windows keys out of the registry
