[SOLVED] drives reconnect all the time

almost every day, my internal drives will get super loud, then once it quiets down i get notifications that all my external drives have been reconnected. (What would you like to do with x drive or something like that) I figured it might have been my backup even though I scheduled it at 2 am when I'm asleep, but even with the backup off it still does it.

Advise computer specs. How many drives do you have; internal and external. Further define super loud; normal clicking or something else? It sounds like you may be losing a hard drive.

Sorry, I should know better. I posted this in a rush before leaving for work because I knew I would forget about it again.

AMD Ryzen 5 3600X
MSI X570-A PRO ATX
Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x16Gb - DDR4-3200
GTX 2060 SUPER
OS Drive: Gigabye AORUS NVMe 1 TB
Data Drives: 2x4TB Seagate BarraCuda 5400
I have 3 external drives connected, I forgot what they all are but they should all be around 4TB each.

My drives start spinning and get louder than when I'm actually using them (like when I'm mass copying/moving/downloading files). Task manager never shows my drive usage over 15% during these times though. And it severely impacts my gaming experience to the point where I'm teleporting between buildings.

actually i just checked again, I had no backups scheduled anymore but I forgot about my antivirus. Rootkit scan every night at the same time, but I wonder why the scan would be reconnecting my drives. I'll send in a ticket I suppose.

yup it was my antivirus doing its' rootkit scan
