When I say computer, I mean full on desktop. It was dumb and lazy of me to put it somewhere other than on top of my desk. All it took was a little headphone wire to pull the whole thing off my desk. The problem I was originally experiencing was when I would boot it up it would say something about "cannot read disk drive" and I thought it was the hard drive. I thought I would wait before I would buy a another hard drive. But then the next day when I originally got up and gonna fiddle with it I tried turning it on, and there was no display. Immediately I checked all cables to monitor and gpu. I plugged the vga into the motherboard. I checked to see if all power cables were plugged into gpu. I tested to see if the fans were working. I tried different slots. I even re-seated the gpu and cpu. Still nothing. Ram is ok. Motherboard is fine cause all the fans start up.
So I am stumped. Could it be the hard drive? It turns on and off fine. All help is appreciated. :)

Solution
IMO, disconnect power and open the pc up. Is there anything obviously wrong?
If you are uncomfortable doing any of this then please disregard. If you don't do this kind of thing often then it can be a bit daunting and you could damage the system more if you dont follow antistatic procedures.

The plan is to reseat everything and while you're in there, vacuum the dust bunnies out, repaste the CPU, clean the fan blade (don't let compressed air or the vacuum spin them very fast).

Pull the Graphics card and ram. Remove the cpu cooler. remove the cpu. And give the system a quick cleaning.
Inspect the cpu & cooler retension mechanisms and make sure its not damaged or broken.
Clean both. Reinstall the cpu. apply new thermal paste. Install...

If I am incorrect, Im sorry. It was just to my understanding if the fans work then the motherboard does too. You wouldent know why it isnt working would you?

Hi there kayleegee28,

So the computer seems to be turning on but the screen remains black right?
The best thing you can do is to just start ruling components out as a possible cause of the issue. My first thought was that the RAM may be causing this. You can try it on another port. The best approach would be to borrow a RAM stick from somebody and try it on your system. You can do the same thing with GPU, HDD, etc. Though, if the HDD is causing the problem, you should get a message stating something like "no bootable device" but not black screen.

Check the ram slots for anything broken then reinstall the ram.
Check the GPU slot for anything broken and then reinstall that too.

Reconnect power and give it a try.
