Hey
So I made a minor mistake *not minor at all* and I ended up dropping a laptop. Specifically, an MSI GT60. It was quite a fall, but the laptop is not visibly damaged, and it still runs. However, I feel like it might be wise to run some tests to make sure everything is ACTUALLY fine. I really hope my heatsinks didn't come loose....
Could anybody recommend to me a proper course of action, and or programs? I would really appreciate it.

Specs:
CPU i7-3630QM
GPU Nvidia Geforce GTX 680M / 4GB GDDR5
RAM: DDR3 12GB (4GB x 3)
HD: 750GB 7200RPM
Motherboard: Model : MS-16F3

Solution
While I'm not condoning the practice, dropping a laptop is a design consideration (they know its' going to happen). A few diagnostics programs that'll get you started:
For Temps;
Speedfan
HWMonitor
CoreTemp
For graphics
Unigine Heaven this is a benchmarking program, monitor temps while running it
For CPU
Prime95 although this is a legitimate program designed to find Mersenne Prime numbers, it is commonly used as a CPU stress testing platform and will report any errors it finds
Memory
MemTest86+
Between those you should get a good indication of how your laptop is performing or if there are issues to be concerned about

Thanks for your reply. I ended up having to get furmark as opposed to Unigine Heaven, because the download is failing on me.
The FurMark test resulted in a CPU temp of roughly 70 degree average, with a couple spikes to 78C. The GPU was averaging a consistent 89C. Test was 30min long (I know its a bit short).
As for prime 95, CPU went to 87, then 91, then back down to 88, then back up to 90, etc. Anyway, went for about 40 min, and so far Prime95 is saying everything has passed and nothing has failed so far.
My limited knowledge indicates the computer GPU and CPU are probably fine, based on these parameters. Does anyone concur or disagree?

If you're just testing for temperatures, even a few minutes running at 100% should get it as hot as it's going to get.

Max for that CPU is 105C, so if it's running a stress test and not hitting it, you will probably be safe.

For dropping the machine, I would be more worried about physical damage to the motherboard or other components than about overheating. The symptom would usually be not starting, or frequent BSODs, something more along those lines.

Thanks! The reason I am testing for temp is because so far, the computer hasn't had any failures, so my immediate concern was if the thermal paste fractured or something like that.
Prime 95 did do a full sweep beyond temp; did about 4 passes per core. All passed

Awesome. Thanks for your really helpful links to those tools.
Cheers!
