i was swapping out my GPU because the old one was fried and having anomalies. i placed in my back up gpu closed it up then i was walking back to my desk and i dropped it about a foot because part of my computer snapped off since it was lose and then it dropped onto the side. my computer now sometimes doesnt boot ive done a ram check with mdsched and chkdsk to check errors on my drive. i was wondering what programs or things i could do to check my graphics card and my cpu to see if their damaged, i do believe how ever my gpu is damaged because on the first slot x16 slot where the graphics was located the security feature popped off. i've reseated my card. my ram. im not sure what type of test i can run to test my graphics card. but over a period of time annomalies started to appear on this card and eventually my screen blued out with white stripes so i had to turn off and seat my card on the 2nd pciex16 slot. rebooted and my computer wouldnt boot up properly nor can i fix it because the error says operating system can not be compatible with repair. but its windows 10. this is very urgent please someone tell me if theres some type of thing i can run to check?

I'd carefully re-seat GPU(in topmost slot), RAM, and all power and data connections to make sure everything is properly secured. Even if GPU security tab is broken, the slot-cover screws should still be able to keep it in place. Does your CPU cooler move at all now, or does it feel secure? You may need to remove and reinstall this as well just to be sure. For software checks, you could run 3dmark, Furmark, or Unigine valley to stresstest your GPU. Prime95 is typically sufficient to stress the CPU.

I'm assuming this is a desktop machine. If not, disregard.

Did you check the monitor on a known good machine?

Dropping a non-laptop machine won't do the hard drive heads any good if you dropped it onto a hard surface. Laptop hard drives are somewhat more tolerant.

Test the display first. If that's the problem replace it and put the GPU back in the original slot and give it a try.

by period of time i mean like 30 minutes ish i was trying to find test i could run on my computer. i think i damaged the card. the monitor was good condition. but the card i think i damaged it. i removed the graphics card drivers to reinstall it just bout 10 minutes ago and i was about to swap it back to the first slot now it wont even boot it. the monitor shows blue but it just displays black

edit - i dropped it on carpet. and no its a desktop. i checked the harddisk drive seems to be okay not sure. the monitor is good standing i checked on other good computers. i really need to know how to test my graphics tho as in software wise my brother keeps telling me to do that. but im not sure how is it a stress test?

the driver crapped out on me and i have to reinstall it now but during reinstallation my entire screen just stays back after 10 seconds. been working to fix i think i shoul ddo a fresh install of my os

problem is after i do this the driver will not respond. only displays black screen and my monitor is on. but when i remove the drivers theres anomalies all over my screen. when reinstall it the anomalies start to freak out. when i boot into like safe boot or something.

it contact is slightly bent i think that might be the problem. i reinstalled my computer but im trying to figure out how i should format my hard drive in order for a clean install ive checked out dban but its not secure for ssd i have a hdssd so im not sure what i tmeans by secure deletion of ssd. i've tried the reset > wipe function windows 10 provides but its still not working so i wanted to make sure i can wipe it clean. do a fresh install of windows 10 because it was giving me problems booting up saying i upgraded from windows 7/8 to 10 when ihad a fresh install so i couldnt repair the windows because it had this error windows operating system not compatible with repair functions which is prevalent with upgraded computers. i need to do a format of my hard drive but not sure what i should use or do

edit- forgot to mention that when i reseated my fans my powersupply HDSSD and my ram and card when ihad booted up the computer it had BSOD then error was VIDEOTDR but i couldnt replicate the bsod because it wouldnt do it

edit- i reformated it with the os disk. reinstalled everything and i it was launching but it had graphical errors also. then when i clicked some where screen went black. i swapped out the card with a older graphics card and now its not displaying anomalies is this a indication that the card i was using was damaged from the drop? i kinda salty /: the card im using is not displaying anything wrong with it either so its not my cpu or motherboard is there anything i can use to test if my cpu is damaged ? i checked my motherboard inspected it didnt see any busted capacitors or anything. im going to do a ram test though. i was wondering if there are any test i can do for my cpu and my mobo to check for indicators of being damaged in ordrer for a rma

Did you upgrade 7 to 10 originally? You can download a bootable copy of 10 for a disc or USB drive for a clean install of 10, but you likely need the key. However, MS changed rules for 10 and claimed after first install of 10, you don't need key on same machine. Not sure if this only applies to OEM or not. Also, are you using an SSHD? You can format the same as any drive, SSD or HDD. No need for secure erase, really.

i currently 37 hrs in running memtest86 currently no errors, ive swapped out he card in order to test it with a different card its not having graphical problems. so im not sure if its the card i damaged just wanted a double check.

had windows 10 test client but i couldnt upgrade it into the offical 10 for some reason bought 10 cd/key and then reinstalled a fresh copy so i was confused but doesnt matter i reformatted reinstalled everything.

after reinstall i had old "damaged card" inside of the computer it boot to the desktop and i clicked on my internet and the whole thing blacked out.

shut down swaped card reinstalled 10 just incase theres no crashing of any sort coming from the back up card im using

edit- got to read your orginal post. how long do i run prime95? and how do i go about it and what am i looking for

RIP im using a ATI hd3k. my 270x toxic is shipping in soon i sent it out for a warrenty claim since the refurbed card they sent was damaged again.. which lead to all this poop. i doubt i can play a few games on this...
