My pc fell when I pulled it over with headphones wire right onto its side. It started freezing up but was functional. The next time I started it up, bios would detect my hard drives and show them but it would say no boot media detected, is my hdd broken?

Solution
hard drives are one of the most fragile parts of the PC and so you likely damaged the drive.

If you have another PC, download a linux live bootable cd (you can install to usb drive instead of CD).
If you can boot from the live linux image and work in it fine, then it is the hard drive that is bad.
