dropped screwdriver on CPU. went to boot and no response from PSU/fans. related?

wasnt planning on booting up tonight. wanted to see how the cpu temps would hold up as the CPU became dented as a result

sorry just to clarify - im waiting on my GPU to get here and wanted to get everything set up to pop it in tommorow. as i was installing the heatsink i dropped my screwdriver on the CPU. it caused a dent on the heatsink.

wanted to see the effect the dent/ scratch would have on the cpu temps only to find the system wouldnt boot at all. no fan spin. no LEDs. no beep from the mobo. could a damaged CPU cause this or should i be looking at some other possible issue

Can you provide an image and estimate as to how deep the dent is?

currently away from home but ive seen pressure from heatsink dents deeper than the damage and the circumference is about the tip of the screwdriver

i wonder if the force of the impact may have caused the CPU to bust

Damn. Where was the CPU when you dropped the screwdriver? If it was in the socket, there could be a little damage there. Look for bent pins, when your back home.
