I just got a new machine, and after 30seconds of playing a game my fps drops from 60 to 30 and below and will stay there until I tab out. I've tried downloading different graphic drivers and changing the speed of the fan on msi afterburner with no success.

In this thread http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2196933/maxed-gpu-usage.html I followed the mods advice and turned on adaptive vsync, and I thought I had fixed my problem, but after further testing the problem still persists.

Here are the specs:
OPERATING SYSTEM:
Windows 2.6.1.7601 (Service Pack 1)
CPU TYPE:
Intel® Core™ i7-4770K CPU @ 3.50GHz
CPU SPEED:

SYSTEM MEMORY:
8.45 GB
VIDEO CARD MODEL:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti
VIDEO CARD MEMORY:
2 GB
VIDEO CARD DRIVER:
nvd3dum.dll
DESKTOP RESOLUTION:
1920x1080
HARD DISK SIZE:
1 TB
HARD DISK FREE SPACE:
894.62 GB (89%)

Props to you for providing so much information so neatly. How are you GPU temps? Also, something that may be overlooked is power settings in BIOS and CPU temperatures. That may be causing throttling. Please do that and tell me the results.

I changed the power management mode option to prefer maximum performance and my issue SEEMS to be fixed, but I'm not making any conclusions yet. I'll give it a day of playing games.

Alright, glad to have fixed your problem for now, I hope it stays that way!

When I boot my machine it comes up with an error that says something like "nvidia kernal driver failed and recovered" what is this, could this be my problem, and how do I fix it?

That is a driver error. Make sure no integrated graphics are enabled and uninstall (device manager and programs and settings) drivers like NVidia GeForce Experience and Display adapter drivers. Then install the latest driver from NVidia's website.

Since uninstalling and then installing all graphics drivers my problem SEEMS to be fixed. We'll see if it holds out.

Today after making 0 changes to my machine any sound coming from the speakers was popping and I was getting 10 fps in games....restarting my computer fixed it, but what in the world could cause that?

I just did the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer and it said I have a newer version of directx already installed.

No I should be able to do it w/o much loss. I'll have to do it tomorrow after work or something.

Alright, good luck and I hope that it is fixed after this!
