I own a Sony DSC-P50 camera and have been using regular AA batteries with
no problems. Now when I put in new AA batteries and turn the camera on, it
turns on for a few seconds and began to flash green light to tell me that
it is out of energy. So, I called support and they say that I should buy a
Sony Li-ion battery from Sony in order for the camera to work. But, I don't
want to buy the battery if it turns out the camera is defective. Does
anyone have similar experience?

I heard for others here that this is normal battery life for a Sony anyway.

Here's an intersting problem. When I turn my DSC-P50 to setup mode that
battery indicator looks fine. It's when I switch other modes that the
battery indicator blinks. I think my DSC-P50 is a gonner.

Before you pronounce it muerto:
1. Try cleaning battery contacts.
2. Are you using rechargable NiMi batteries - they are better then alkaline
for this type of use. You can get a set at Walmart with a charger for @$15.
