I have to use, Start \Connect To, to start my DSL connection.
Is it possible for an automatic start using Windows XP

Have you asked that of the support folks at your DSL provider?

In lieu of that, there are automation utilities available that will
recognize the CONNECT TO box, and press the appropriate button in that
box. One of those is at http://www.clearlight.com/~rtvsoft/RtvReco.htm
