Hello everyone,

I am not good in this type of "category" of computer tech, so bare with me.

I have had my DSL modem plugged into my living room for around 8 months, so I could use the ethernet ports for my desktop computer.

This week however my line began crapping out on me. I called my ISP and yes an issue with my line. I said, lets try a different port. So my bedroom does just fine. No issues.

With Covid being an issue I would rather not have a on site Tech come in my Apartment (which they said they will have too). So my goal, if possible, is to find a fix.

Again, if I sound stupid, I probably am. I just have no knowledge with DSL/Phone Lines. If anyone could tip or help. I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Solution
Not sure what you expect. You have a bad wire inside the wall or maybe a bad connection between wires. This has to be done onsite.

I mean I guess you could search for videos that show you how to replace phone wall jacks but there really is no way other than you digging around to try to find the path the wires run. You also have to be careful to damage anything if this is not your property.

If the ISP is willing to come out and fix this it is likely your best option. I am very surprised most ISP will not fix stuff inside the house. They too take the chance of damaging stuff and replacing wires inside walls many times requires cutting holes and then repairing and repainting.

If you are vaccinated you have almost zero chance...

If you are vaccinated you have almost zero chance of getting sick enough to require treatment and extremely low chance to even test positive with no symptoms.

Solution
That is correct a dsl filter is only needed if you also have a old analog phone. It mostly prevents the DSL from causing noise issues on the phone but some very fancy electronic phones can interfere with DSL. Easy test is to unplug the phone if you have one and see if it makes a difference.
