DSL modem and internal modem conflicting

We have DSL, but I also have to use an internal modem on one of my computers to connect to remote modem sites for my job. There seems to be a conflict. Is there any way around this without adding another phone line?

For this type of thing you are better to contact your internet service provider.

By "internal modem" are you referring to 20 years old dial-up technology? and you never stated exactly what the problem is.

Yes, by "internal modem" I am referring to 20 year old dial-up technology. Here in the states and overseas, there's a lot of supermarkets that have not gotten their stores on network. The problem is when I plug the phone line into my "old" laptop, it kills the DSL internet and I cannot dial out. The only way to make it work is to pull the power on the DSL modem\router. But that is very counter productive as I also need the internet connection while connected to a site.

The only thing I can suggest is, hopefully you have multiple landlines. "dial out" on a different landline than the one used for DSL. Good luck.
