Okay, so I'm not familiar with how DSL works at all, this my first time running into the issue. I'll just summarize my story and what my intentions are.

So, I am currently with century link, and using a dual modem/router that is connected via DSL. It was installed in my kitchen (terrible choice of mine), and I want to move it into my lounge. Tried and failed, and the modem would not connect to the DSL. Put the modem back in its original place and it worked as usual, then I tried connecting my micro desktop to the previous lounge DSL port using a Ethernet cord. My computer was unable to connect to the DSL, I think it just may be the problem of the port. So, my question is, how do I "activate" the DSL port so I can move my modem to that new position, and able to connect my computer directly to the modem.

Would I be able to rewire it myself, or do I need to get a professional to do it for me? If you can, could you please tell me what is required to get the job done, thanks.

it is hard to say what is required since I have no idea how your place was wired.

Some houses have a cable going for one phone jack to another and daisy chaining then together, other places have a central location from where a separate phone cable go to each jack.

So I just got a hold of centurylink, turns out that there can only be one port that works in my house. They have to dispatch a technician to my house for $99, and I'm for sure not willing to pay that type of money. I have to deal with it or somehow find a way to rewire it.
