Ok, HDD is in 2 partitions, and firts both were fat32, and I installed win98 se on D:. Then I install XP on C:, and convert it to NTFS, but when I try to load 98 se it won't. Must be issue w/ C being NTFS. Any workaround other than converting to Fat32?

My frog asked me for a straw...dunno what happened his ass all over the place

No, if you have the c partition as NTFS you cannot revert it back to FAT32, it is a one-way conversion. You probably also have the d partition as NTFS also. If so, sorry but Win98SE is a FAT32 OS only. You will have to reformat the d partition which can be done flawlessly with Partition Magic or you will have to reformal the entire hdd.

D partition, which is where 98 se is installed, is FAT32, that I made sure stayed Fat32. So is there some sort of modified file?

Partition Magic can safely convert NTFS volumes back to FAT32.
BTW flamethrower, you seem to be very interested in reinstalling several OSes every week  . Just a joke of course  .

r2k has the right idea. I meant to say repartition and revert back to FAT32 if it isn't already but if you don't have Partition Magic and do this a lot, get it.

I think the basic problem is that even though 98 is on the D (FAT32) partition, there are some files which have to reside on C, which necessitates FAT32 there too. The other way around would work fine (XP on D: NTFS, 98 on C: FAT32)

It's always the one thing you never suspected.

Hmm, yes, that is another possibility, though I hate main os being on d, but I'll live with it. Ok, format time, and r2k, it's true, I guess I just love the little music and screen that u get when u install winxp and are in the last final steps (where u people who don't use corp activate and setup internet).
