Hi All!

I have an old MacBook Pro - 2011 model running macOS Lion. I have to have this OS for some proprietary devices connect to the machine. I want to set up a dual boot scenario to add High Sierra, which was the latest supported OS on this model. I actually had this working at one point but needed to repartion the SSD and it erased High Sierra...now I want to do it again but cannot seem to get this working. Lion is so old it will not connect to the Apple App store and browsers no longer work. I've watched countless videos on this...still no luck. Tried using a USB boot..system did not recognize the flash drive as bootable??? I fear due to the age of Both Lion and High Sierra that Apple no longer is making this easy to do... Any Suggestions?

It would be helpful to know what "proprietary devices".

Also reconsider dual booting - if the old MacBook Pro has or develops some problem then the proverbial "eggs are all in one basket".

Rightly or wrongly, fairly or unfairly, things change and we are forced to adapt accordingly....

My suggestion is to start thinking about and ahead with regards to other newer options.

You may indeed find some interim solution and get by a bit longer.

After that, next time.... maybe not.

Just my thoughts on the matter.
