Dual boot Win10 / Win7

If I wanted to create a dual boot config of Windows 10 and Windows 7 on my PC currently running 10 could I just download the Win7 ISO files from Microsoft's website and purchase a cheap Win 7 key to install Win 7?

There is no 'cheap'. The OS costs what it costs, somewhere between $80-$100US.
To download the Win 7 from MS, you'll need a valid Retail license key. It will ask at the beginning of the process.

Windows 7 was initially installed on my PC, then I upgraded to 10 and can't go back to 7 now.

Those are exactly as 'legit' as the guy in the Walmart parking lot, selling a brand new 70" Sony 4k TV for $125.

Should I just do a clean install of Windows 7 on my PC then install 10 again afterwards for the dual boot?

Because I greatly prefer Windows 7 for everyday tasks, and Windows 10 is better for gaming.
