I have a Samsung SM951 AHCI 256 M.2 and a HDD. My mobo is Asus X99-pro/USB3.1.
I have managed to install windows 7 64bit (UEFI) in to my SSD and boot from it.

Now i want another Windows 7 64 in my HDD (UEFI). What is the best way to do this. I would like a selection screen when the PC boot up. How is this work with UEFI? Will there be another UEFI partition made in HDD? Any advice ?

Greetings, Angelo:

I have a similar setup on my Intel board, but I use Win10 instead of Win7. It works perfectly on my system and it shouldn't be a problem for you, either, but I don't know what the OS selection screen looks like in Win7. In Win10 it's a stylish light-blue screen with a list of volumes and very limited information to tell the drives apart.

You may need to write down which volume contains which Win7 version (e.g. Volume...

Why two copies of the same OS? I can't help but think this would simply be confusing.
And you will need two licenses.

Yes I have 2 copies of Windows 7 64. I just want to know if I just install the 2nd Windows 7 in to HDD while my SSD is plugged, will i get dual boot choose menu? Will this make a conflict in the EFI partition in the SSD? Because its the same windows will the EFI be overwritten or something?

Yes, it should give a choice of which to boot into.

The looks, i can live with. I will try it today. 😀. Thx

Hi Angelo,
I also have a similar setup with a Samsung EVO 500GB partitioned into C + D drives, I installed 2 copies of Win 7, one on C then installed another copy on D. It took only one license because it's the same hardware but I'm using a 10 lic copy from an Action Pack subscription but didn't lose an extra license out of the 10. I have 2 Seagate 3TB drives I use for data, one for each OS. I use one OS for most day to day stuff and one only for music creation, Pro Tools etc so it stays as clean as possible. With different wallpapers and icons on each desktop there is never any confusion. Just this week I upgraded both win 7's to Win 10 and am very happy with it, only have one piece of hardware there aren't drivers for yet. Best of luck.
