Quick little question. I am in the process of building a low budget server comp, and have a celeron 2 566 ocd to 876 lying around. Now would it be possible to go dual cpu with this chip on say an abit vp6 or bp6 or any other mobo with dual cpu support and ability to change fsb and voltage for overclocking. Thx guys.

What do you run to take advantage of the dual CPU's? if you don't have anything specific I would suggest going for a GHZ PIII / Athlon as they would serve you better for games etc...

UK Prices are toooooooooo high , keep competition going to bring em down

you're building a server so that means Nt, or LINUX both use SMP, go with the bp6.

this is the wrong place for dual lovers as we are surrounded by "amd puppies" with their single cpu's and WinME.

the celeron 2 cannot be used in an smp system, no workarounds at this time. however you can set up a smp with the original cerlerons.
but then again WHY BOTHER?????????????

Hello??? A webserver would benefit greatly from dual cpu's. And even on a 1ghz P3 or t-bird, try burning a cd, listening to mp3, playing q3 all at once. Possible on duals, not on singles.

BTW, I know someone who has run 533@800 in a bp6, it worked fine...

It is possible to run the old Celerons dual on an Abit BP6. I dont think the Abit VP6 can run dual Celerons, I think its only for P3's. I have a friend that just added a second 466 celeron to his bp6, hes planning on ocing them up to 700. As for celeron 2's you might be able to get a neo adapter for the BP6 to run the FC-PGA chips, I know they have done it with P3's. Check out http://www.bp6.com they more about the bp6 boards.
