Question dual-channel and mixing ram

I have a ddr4 dimm4 motherboard. It has dual-channel enabled, so there are 2 pairs of ram slots.
I have read that to enable dual-channel, the pair of ram sticks must be identical. By "identical", do they have to be the same for all the properties, even MHz and voltage? If I put two different sticks in a dual-channel pair, will they still work as individual single-channel sticks?
And for mixing different ram sticks in normal single-channel settings, what do I have to be cautious of?

mixing ram is fine, you can have 4 different speed, voltage, capacity sticks.
but, all of them will be capped on the speed and timings of the slowest one.
also, when I say it works, I mean it MAY work. no guarrenteas. thats the tea. (see what I did there?)

U mean u have 4 sticks of memory, but they are all different? I have mixed and matched sets before, but not all are different. I have two kits of the identical model. You can always try it out. Run MEMTEST and see if your PC passes all the tests without a single error.
