Hi, I trying to mix 8GB (CMV8GX4M1A2133C15) with 4GB (CMV4GX4M1A2133C15). When checked cpu z in memory tab it show as a dual channel, however in slot 1=Dual and slot 2=Single, what does it mean? why in slot 2 detected as a single instead of dual?
most motherboards support asynchronous dual channel, allowing dual channel with unequal sticks. i have done this many times without any issue. its generally gotta be matching sticks, just with different capacities.
I would not recommend doing what you are doing to anyone. Use matched pairs only for stability and performance. I wonder one of the sticks is SINGLE channel? let's google that.
