(This is my first time building a computer, so I'm very new to this. Be patient please)

So I have an Asrock 970 extreme 3 motherboard, and today I just turned on my computer for the first time and went into the bios. It recognizes the two ram that are in the slots but reads it as a single channel. It will say "total ram" and it says all of the ram that I have in there but for some reason it doesnt say dual channel. I have the two sticks in slot A1 and another one that corresponds to it, which is B1. I switched to A2 and B2 and it still says that. I have 8 gb of kingston hyper x ram blue 1600 Mhz ddr3. I've read the manual and it told me where to put the sticks of ram but it still won't work. I went into the load profile setting and changed it to xmp and it didnt work so i changed it back to auto. Still nothing.

tldr: my two sticks of ram is reading as a single channel instead of dual.

Sorry for wall of text and thanks in advanced.

Install one memory in DIMM1 (closest to the processor) and one in DIMM3 (probably A2). It should work.

So they are in the 1st and 3rd from the CPU, see if there is an option for ganged or unganged in the BIOS if so use ganged, might even try sticks in 1-2 to see if they screwed the slots up, if nothing here works may want to pull the CPU and check for bent/broken pins

To tradesman1 they're in those slots, and it still didnt work. I even put it in dimm 2 and 4 and they wont work.

to legohouse I know yesterday when I installed my cpu none of the pins were bent or broken, it wasn't forced into the motherboard and it fit in easily as any cpu would. Also would you be able to tell me where the "ganged" option would be in my bios. I read into my manual and I can't find it.

Well I booted the computer with 1 stick in, it worked, then the other, and it worked. I don't think the dimm slots are bad but idk what the issue is. It says

Total memory:8193MB

Single channel memory mode

DDR3 A1: 4096 mb DDR3 1600

DDR3 B1: 4096 mb DDR3 1600

It recognizes both ram but wont run in the dual channel.

Does it really even matter? is there a big difference. I don't really have the money right now to go out and buy a new one so I'd like to make this work.
