Dual Channel memory on X79 Mobo

Hello,

If I get the ASUS Rampage iV eXtreme Mobo n Corei7 3930K CPU will I be able to use my Dual Channel Memory tho Mobo/CPU are Quad Channel ?

memory modules are not single, duel or quad channel, motherboards are. You can use your memory however you like, and depending on what slots you put it in it will be used as single, duel or quad channel.

I assume you only have 2 sticks of ram, so if you use the correct slots the board will still use it as duel channel. If you get 2 more sticks then you can get bumped up to quad... though there is no practical improvement here.

Ok, so from what you are saying is RAM ain't issue here Boards are .. So why are vendors selling RAM as QUAD - Triple - Dual ? Or is it just the number of sticks ? Like 6x4(24gb) could be Tripple or Quad right ? Or is it triple ? I don't get it xD
