Question Dual channel ram

i am trying to get dual channel ram to work but i am having some issues, so both of my memory's are 4gb but one is soldered onto the motherboard, is that why it is not working or is there another way. laptop - acer aspire A315-22 amd a9 processor not amd a4 if anyone looks further into this.
