Hi,

I just recently built myself a new computer that had 1 GSkill F2-6400CL5S-1GBNQ 1GB module in it. I was curious if I bought another same module can I then run them in dual channel mode?

Do the modules have to be rated for dual channel or is that just a function of having 2 of them?

Thanks

Yep, if you can, you should buy another stick of the exact same RAM. To run them in dual channel, you have to put them in the right slots- typically, slots of the same colour. For example, if your board has two black slots and two blue slots, put both sticks in black or both sticks in blue. Otherwise, it'll run in single channel mode. Any 2 DDR2 sticks of the same type can run in dual channel mode.

Splendid
Check your MB manual to see if your MB supports dual channel mode, and if so, how to arrange your RAM. I've seen MBs where one needs to use different-colored slots.

Ok,

I got the second stick in there and the computer see's 2GB now...Is there usually a setting I have to enable in the bios to run the memory in dual channel mode or is that automatic?

The mainboard is a MSI K9VGM-V and I don't see anything in bios about dual channel.

Thanks
