Dual CPUs on a MB are used for file servers generally.
Lots of info on the net regarding the pros and cons of dual CPUs on a MB. Google around.

Just what meanmachine said. Dual and even quad CPUs on one motherboard are designed for high end servers that require lots of programs to be run at the same time, or for advanced rendering.
