Dual CPU, Task manager shows only one core

CPU : AMD athlon x2 370k Dualcore
OS : Windows 8 Pro
Motherboard : MSI FM2-A55M-E33

Task manager shows only one core, as is msinfo32, but at the same time in device manager it shows 2 athlons and in task manager CPU0 and CPU1.
Dose it mean that every things alright and the CPU is just slow piece of ####.
Or is there a problem ?

I have tried msconfig magic ( didn't work)
BIOS has no core enabling options
Environment variables shows 2 NUMBER_OF_PROCESSORS
Reinstaled windows dozen times (7, 8, 8.1)
PC Wizard showed 1 core (max 2)
Everything and every driver is up to date

I just dont know what more can i do 🙁

Right click on the graph, and there should be an option to change to threads and not total usage. It's purely cosmetic.

It recognizes that you have 2 "logical processors". Does it really matter whether Windows 8 acknowledges them as distinct cores?

In Task Manager, on the Performance Tab, View-> CPU History-> One Graph Per CPU

(Actually, that is for Windows 7, I'm not sure about 8, but probably the same)

wait "task manager shows only one core"....."task manager cpu0 and cpu1" is a conflict of info.

simple answer if task manger show cpu0 and cpu1 and both graphs are active then both cores are working as cpu0 is one core and cpu1 is the second core.

The reason is quite simple. The architecture is 1 module containing 2 cores. The 2 cores share resources so it shows 1 module as 1 "core" in task manager while separating them to 2 logical cores. It's similar to how ht cores are 1 core but 2 logical cores. It's just to use all resources before having to resort to any cores that are sharing resources which of course means better performance. In this case it doesn't really matter because you only have 1 module, but it separates them like this for any cpu of the same architecture.
