I've got a gtx 970 (not sli) in my pc and I was wondering i could get another 970 or a 980? Will it work? I searched but i couldnt really find an answear tho. Im running at a 1920x1080 screen, I've read that the 970 only has 3,5gb vram so what should i do? Or what could i do?

Thanks!

Not the graphical performance at least. There will be a noticeable difference but it won't be too dramatic. It's really your choice if you want to do it or not. The more cards you SLI/Crossfire together, the less of a difference it will make each time you add a new card because the price to performance ratio is off by a lot. Also you will be using a lot more power and will generate tons of heat. SLIing 2 970s should be a good choice.
your motherboard needs to support SLI to run 2 nvidia gpu's together and you can only add the same gpu so an other 970. not a 980.
dont worry about the ram its fine. I run a 1440p monitor with a 970 hardly ever over 3gb ram

What if it only got 1 pci express slot? Do i still have to change it?

So getting a new motherboard and another 970 sli wont doubling the performance?

But then ill need a new motherboard... I´ll just get a 980 later, I mean its still a good card

Go with an Asus mobo. Preferably in the Rampage series. Anything with 2 PCI-E slots or more. If you plan on getting a 980, spend a little bit more and get a Zotac 980Ti Amp Extreme. It blows the 980 and the 980Ti out of the water.

Well in not planing getting one any time soon but in a few years or when the 970 cand handle medium anymore... So i maybe get a gtx 1240 in the future
