Hello,
I have my computer set up for four monitors right now. Honestly didn't need four, but I had an empty port cause I only need three for work. However, I use my computer for gaming from time to time but i can't seem to get it to run when both of my graphics cards are running. i have my primary being amd radeon hd 4890, which i use to play all my games on the highest settings it can run, and I bought a cheap ati radeon hd 5450 for running my 3rd and 4th monitors. I'm not concerned about running my game across multiple monitors. I read a review, after all this conflict started, and somebody did a review and claimed it's not good enough to run games on. So is it basically that my games are being bottlenecked by this card when running my games? As when both are active, even on the lowest settings the game freezes after some time and I have to restart the entire computer unless I get "lucky" and my display driver fails and crashes the game altogether. if i disable the driver, and restart the pc, leaving only my main video card running, all my games run as if i never installed the card. and just incase it maybe important, i have all my games set to open from my main display being powered by my main graphics card. I was just hoping there was some way that i could set the games to run through the 4890 and just bypass the 5450 so that I don't have to restart my computer. of course I don't need the 3rd or 4th monitors really while playing a game so it's not a problem there, just a hassle I wouldl ike to avoid if I can.

Thanks

Solution
Ye i dont think you can use different generation graphics with each other. Also your probably not using a crossfire bridge, which allows to cards to run together.

uh.. apparently.. I've never used two cards before. I just assumed as long as they were same brand they would be fine. It works for any of my usages, watching movies, doing my work, everything except playing games.

so basically I have to disable it when I want to play a game? I didn't want to have to spend ~$200 to get another card (idr how much i spent exactly) that would just power two extra monitors that get little use. I was expecting that, but I thought I'd ask anyways in hopes. Thanks for the confirmation.
