Hey guys, back again!

I'll skip to the point. For some strange reason my legit copy of windows 8 (now 8.1) would never ever update using windows updates. i have 100's of essential securitye and other random updates to download but my computer refuses. it just loops through a failure to configure update - preparing to retry - failure to configure - restart - loop until you manually turn off the power. Then about 1 in 4 restarts it will ignore the update and boot to the login screen. its terribly annoying but ive dealt with it.

Now last year ish i had an issue where my VGA cable plugged into a Pnp Moniter stopped working. (my VGA port is attached to the motherboard rather than the GPU). i had to switch to the graphics card HDMI to see anything and then i factory reset the PC (it still has the update bug) Now today after holding down the power button as i always do to get this to work it stopped working. naturally i went and found a HDMI screen and plugged it into the HDMI slot on the graphics card. After some tweaking internally (basically just cleaning up the PCI-ports and the ram slots, they were dusty) i couldnt get the PC to display ANYTHING through the motherboard VGA slot. nothing. the moniter didnt even receive a signal and turn the orange light green. I spent most of today finding a DV-I to VGA converter and have since plugged my VGA cable directly to the GPU. My issue is now that my dual graphics do not work. I'm running a AMD A8-6500k Apu with integrated HD 5850 + AMD HD 6500. Or some GPU very close to that spec. I beleive it is the integrated side that isnt functioning. games i could play on medium/high yesterday run at 1/2 fps right now (EG fallout 4) . I try to run amd catylist but it says i have no AMD drivers. I then go to download the drivers and it says i have no AMD Hardware on this PC. I'm not sure why any of this happened really im pretty decent with pc's but i need someone with abetter understanding of why certain errors occur. Why the sudden motherboard erros?

First o all: if you have a GPU installed you HAVE to plug VGA/Hdmi cable into it. You cant use onboard video with GPU installed.

About windows update error:
Check windows event log viewer copy the error event here, we can try to help you.

[and then i factory reset the PC (it still has the update bug)]
that is why you are in the position you are now
the integrated HD is low end garbage suitable only for work stations or 10 year old games an AMD GPU 5850 is still a highly performing graphics card compared to everything integrated even to this day....it will take atleast 7 more years before integrated gets close to touching this level of performance.
now that you're set straight on that, when you reset your pc, you set it back to day 1 finished install at the factory, there are no drivers other than what windows came with it when it was installed, you will literally have to look at component model numbers and go to the manufacturers websites and download the driver for your exact products.
i am not sure what OS you are using at this point 8.0 or 8.1, but with all the security updates to software that is used for windows update itself to update you will have to research that on microsofts website for the appropriate KB articles, also 8.0 has been officially killed off and is no longer supported https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/gp/lifecycle-windows81-faq

Now that its in the GPU slot. the graphics performance has gone to near 0. Its like i dont have a graphics card right now. It was Fine plugged into the motherboard for nearly 2 years now. and where would i find the event log?

Go to AMD website, search for drivers and download it.
here (Legacy drivers):
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/legacy?product=legacy3&os=Windows+8.1+-+64

Event Log:
Hit start, administrative tools, event viewer
Or
Start, control panel, adminsitrative tools, event viewer

Yes, except no. because after the factory reset it still worked fine with both integrated and gpu running. and this time around i havent factory reset it. the motherboard slot just stopped working so i plugged into my gpu slot and i now have drastically worse performance

I re installed catylist and the drivers before i made this post. when i run catylist it says no AMD Hardware found or Driver malfunction
