I currently have a gtx 770 with 2gb vram. I recently was gifted a gtx 780. My issue is now should I swap the 770 for the 780 or sell the 780 and sli my 770?

Dual gtx 770's out perform even the titan by a landslide, I would just leave the 780 in the sealed package if it stll is and sell it online people will almost pay for retail just to save 5 bucks. You might of looked at this already but still check it out http://www.techoftomorrow.com/2013/pc/nvidia-geforce-gtx-770-2-way-sli-performance-review-benchmarks/

Sli with 770's would be much faster than a single 780. however, another option you have is to sell the 770 and get a second 780, but supposing you sold the used 770 for $300-$350 you would still end up paying an extra $300. Honestly I would go with selling the gtx 780 and getting a second 770 if you don't have the money to spare. Plus, by selling the gtx 780 you can almost buy 2 more 770's for 3-way sli! 770 3-way sli benchmarks show crysis 1080p very high 4xaa at 78.8 fps with a gtx 690 at 56.3fps on a benchmark I found here http://www.neoseeker.com/resourcelink.html?rid=231980
