Dual Intel Xeon E5-2699 v3 vs Core i7 multiple PC network

This build is for maya rendering.

I want to know which one is better.
a workstation with Dual Intel Xeon E5-2699 v3
or
Core i7 multiple machine network with the same budget?

I stand to be corrected, but if my reading is accurate Maya uses primarily CPU rendering.
This means that you would want your Xeon CPU rather than an i7 as these excel at rendering with their beefier caches/higher thread counts, etc.
