So I'm currently running a 24" 60HZ Samsung monitor, which I've had for like 3 years now lol. I have the EVGA GTX 1070 which I've had for a year now, and have completely neglected the fact that I'm not really using the card to it's full potential on this monitor. So I'm gonna' go out and get a 120HZ monitor which I will obviously use for games and keep the 2nd one to run dual monitors, will this work and what sort of adapters do I need? As the 1070 only has one HDMI slot 🙁 (Never ran dual mons before, bit of a noob when it comes to displays)

Ontop of that, will I notice any sort of FPS drops running 2 monitors?

Thank you for any and all help, appreciate it! :'D

I run a similar setup, with a 60Hz sitting next to a 120Hz monitor.
You should run into no issues with such a setup.
Just be sure to check your settings, that the new monitor is properly set to 120Hz.

You should need no extra adapters; all new monitors should have a Display Port input; and your GPU should have a free Display Port output.
Most monitors will include the necessary cable; just plug it in and you are set!

Awesome, thanks for the quick response! Would you happen to have any suggestions, I've been browsing away for a good day or two and still haven't decided what I want lol, as I say, I'm rubbish with displays and there's so many different variaties it's confusing lol. 120/144hz, 1080p (or higher if possible 😉), with a low MS and on a budget of roughly £150-250?

Unfortunately, I am unable to offer any specific recommendations in your price range.
In general though, for my usage and when I am looking for a new monitor, I prefer to prioritize viewing angles, resolution and screen size.
With that in mind, I would recommend the largest IPS or *VA type screen that fits to your workspace, and the highest resolution for the screen size and price bracket.

I assume you are buying in the UK?
Try using skinflint.co.uk's filters to narrow down your options.
Once you have a few strong contenders, see if you can find any specific reviews and compare the measured pixel response time and viewing angles.
If you can fit it in your budget, a display with G-Sync will give you a better gaming experience in demanding games; but the module cost will equate to lower quality in your price range compared to other monitors.

Hello there , I have a dual monitor setup 180hz 1080p 24' + 60hz ips 1080p for my browsing and movies. It's a great setup but expect some power loss from your gpu about 10-15fps but nothing really bad. I would say go for it , you will never again be able to play at a 60hz monitor though , the difference is night and day if you can pull 120fps+ ! For your price range I would strongly recommend the Benq 2411z , you can find one second handed in perfect condition with only 180-200 pounds because they want to upgrade to 1440p and you can't really sell a 1080p easily anymore... You might be able to find the Asus vg248qe for that price too but don't get it because it uses pwm=flickering and that ruins the perfect motion clarity + it can cause eyestrain in some humans. Just get the Benq and you will be a Lord in fps games.
