Dual monitor connection not working. DVI and VGA ports

Im having problems using dual monitor. I have a Hp pavillion p2 1310..... it has multi display capability. It has a DVI-D Port and a VGA port. I plugged both ports into both monitors and only one monitor (VGA connection) is working. Please help

Your monitor may have the wrong type of DVI port.

DVI-D output is digital only, so the DVI input port on the monitor must be DVI-D or DVI-I. If the input port on the monitor is DVI-A that's analogue input only and won't work if it receives a digital signal.
