I am looking into a dual-monitor setup, and will most likely look aroud to find a cheap 1080p monitor, since I use my 40" TV as my primary monitor.

What should I be looking for in a monitor? Is a 1080p monitor with a HDMI port good enough or do I need some kind of special port.

Also, I thought I just needed a port cable, but the sticky here says I need another one. Just curious what is all needed for my setup.

My graphics card is the GeForce GTX 960, hopefully that will work for dual monitors.

No. it isn't needed to run dual monitor, it just make doing it easier. It allows you to move tabs from monitors easier and it adds a start menu to the second monitor, which isn't possible without it or a program like it. You can look for another, i'm sure they're are free once alike
