Dual Monitor Gaming PC Build

Hey everyone.

I am looking at building a monster gaming rig that can be used for editing and things like AutoCAD. I would like it to be a dual-monitor set up. I would like to keep the price for everything under $2500 Australian. I would also like to run windows 7.

Currently I have plans for a decent sized SSD (probably 240gb) and another hard drive, maybe 3tb. I am thinking of the cooler master HAF X, but easily swayed on that part. I would like a GTX 770 and probably 16gb of ram for the editing side of things.

Would like it to play current games on high graphics settings, would also like the ability to upgrade to a dual SLI set up down the track if I feel like. Main uses would be gaming, editing 1080p GoPro footage, AutoCAD and Maya processing.

No idea what I want with the monitors, but would like a dual monitor set up.

Budget: $2500 Aus

Hi Tbalasso
Here is a part list

PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3FzKS

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($319.99 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: Corsair H105 73.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($89.99 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard: Asus Maximus VI Hero ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($189.99 @ NCIX US)
Memory: G.Skill TridentX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($179.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($159.99 @ B&H)
Storage: Seagate 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Hybrid Internal Hard Drive ($115.99 @ Amazon)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti 3GB Superclocked Video Card ($689.99 @ Micro Center)
Case: NZXT H440 (Red/Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($119.99 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: Corsair RM 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($120.98 @ Amazon)
Monitor: Asus VX248H 60Hz 24.0" Monitor ($199.99 @ Amazon)
Monitor: Asus VX248H 60Hz 24.0" Monitor ($199.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $2386.88

These prices are in USD

Some things which i would like to say on my part -
I put in a SSHD instead of normal HDD as you will be swapping and loading large chunks of data while running AutoCAD
SSHD is hybrid of HDD and SSD

Another thing is the cabinet, i have put in NZXT H440, I personally love that cabinet but you may swap it for whichever one you like.

The display
It is good from both gaming as well as editing point of view
You will love the 1ms response time for gaming and it's amazing dynamic contrast ratio for editing

One thing if i could improve by throwing in more money would be RAM, I would have tried for 32GB RAM
But you always have that room for upgrading in the future.

In case you want to drop something, drop the CPU cooler for now.

Happy Editing :)

Not a bad suggestion! This will work.

This comes a lot closer to 3000 in Australia. Anyway we could adjust to $2000 US? I think dropping to a 770 would help decrease the price a lot as 780s are over $800 here. Also, I cannot seem to find that motherboard here in australia either.

So this is what I have come up with, all in Australian dollars. I quite like the setup you have, however, may change the case to something different, as I would prefer a disc drive, and it doesn't look like this case has a disc drive slot.

Like I said, I would also like a bluray drive. But this is pretty close to what I want. Might just tune down the GTX to a 770 4gb superclocked, and change case and get a OS and blu ray drive with the savings.

Not surprising, considering I just copied the build that you said was "Not a bad suggestion!" and replaced the parts for purchasable parts in Australia :)

Not new, components in Australia are a bit costlier.
Though the RAM you selected, i won't recommend it. I would suggest a minimum of 16GB 1866 CL9 and for high perfomane 16GB 1866 CL8 and so on.

My suggestion
Downgrade the CPU cooler or buy it some other day when you have money.
This way you will save $155 AD and add like $20 AD (RAM)

Best of Luck :)

Weird, someone seems to have selected your previous post as the best answer. :p PPL messing with random threads or something.

Some new suggestions, if you haven't purchased yet (I doubt it, but I'd like to put this out there, just in case) The MX 100 is a newer version of the M 500, and also a Z97 boars will allow you to upgrade to Broadwell. Sorry if this was bad timing.

(I actually just clicked the link, when the thread PMed me)
